Top 20 Slots UK: Twenty of the Best Games by Type and Where to Play Them (October 2026)

  • Updated October 2026
  • Licence status shown for every offer
  • 18+

Below the heading sits our casino ranking, the answer to where to play: in October 2026 it lists four offshore-licensed sites whose welcome packages need £20 or €20 to start and release 150 to 500 free spins in stages, with the licence and terms on every card. The twenty games follow, grouped into eight types, fishing slots through to this year’s releases, each with every RTP version and top prize its provider publishes. Carry one number into any lobby: nine of the twenty have cheaper settings, which at 10p a spin and an assumed 600 spins an hour add between £1.27 and £7.21 to the hourly cost, against a 50p spread across eighteen of the defaults.

    Terms, licence and verdict

Player-friendly terms by offshore standards: 35x rather than the usual 40x, a €5 maximum bet, two weeks to clear, and free-spin winnings paid as cash. The arithmetic is still against the player: a €20 first deposit earns a €30 bonus that needs €1,050 of slot play, an expected cost of about €42 on a 96% game, so the match is worth less than nothing on average and the free spins are the only part with positive value. Licensed in Anjouan (ALSI-202601040-FI2), operated under the names BetPortal Gaming Ltd and Excite Ultra Media Ltd; not on the Gambling Commission register and not connected to GamStop.

A five-deposit package whose headline, €5,000, is reached only by depositing €1,000 five times. At the €20 minimum the first stage is a €20 bonus that needs €800 of play at 40x, an expected cost of about €32, so the match has negative value on average; the spins are capped at €100 of winnings per batch and expire within a day. Launched in 2025 under a Curaçao licence; not on the Gambling Commission register and not connected to GamStop. The maximum bet while a bonus is active is not published, which is a term worth asking support for before depositing.

Launched in 2026 and operated by PrimeTier Limited of Costa Rica, a brand with no track record yet. The package has the same shape as WinBeast: five deposits, 40x wagering, and at the £20 minimum a first-stage bonus that needs £800 of play. The 5x conversion cap limits what any stage can pay out. Not on the Gambling Commission register and not connected to GamStop; the lootbox and tournament promotions sit outside the welcome terms entirely.

A generous-looking first-deposit match with the least documented terms. A £20 deposit at 200% is a £40 bonus that needs £1,600 of play at 40x, an expected cost of about £64, so the headline generosity is the most expensive to clear. The maximum win, expiry and maximum bet are not published where a player can read them before depositing, and the Curaçao licence number could not be matched to a regulator entry. 9 of 20 games have published lower RTP versions; Book of Dead’s run down to about 84.2%, twelve points below its default.

£72.06 an hour is what that lowest Book of Dead version adds to the average cost of play at £1 a spin and an assumed 600 spins an hour (£7.21 at 10p).

5,000x is the published maximum a game needs before a £2 spin, the cap for 18 to 24 year olds, can pay £10,000. Nine of the twenty reach it.

7 of 20 publish no maximum win and 7 no volatility rating; Fishin’ Frenzy, Eye of Horus and Sugar Rush publish neither.

Twenty games are enough to show the shape of the slot market and few enough to read in one sitting. Rather than a league table, the page works as a catalogue of the strongest games in each style. Each game was chosen to represent a kind of slot a British player meets, and each comes with the figures its provider publishes, plus a plain note of the figures it does not. Where a provider leaves something out, the page says so instead of filling the gap.

The catalogue is part of the online slots UK guide, which covers RTP, volatility and the British rules for slots in general. Here the questions are practical ones. Where can you play, and what kind of game is this? What does its provider tell you, and what does it keep back? How much more does a lower RTP version cost per hour? And at the stake you are allowed, how large can its top prize actually be?

Quick answer: the top 20 slots in the UK and where to play them

  • Start with the casino ranking. Its four sites are offshore, each licensed by Anjouan, Curaçao or Costa Rica, and each offers a deposit package: entry from £20 or €20, a 35x to 40x wagering multiple and from 150 to 500 spins paid out across several deposits. Lobbies are not the same everywhere, so look the game up before you pay in.
  • Choose a type, then a game. The type predicts how a slot pays and which rule bites: fishing and Egyptian games carry the longest RTP ladders, Megaways and high-volatility games the biggest ceilings, the classics the calmest sessions.
  • Read the setting, not just the title. Nine of the twenty publish cheaper settings. At £1 a spin and an assumed 600 spins an hour, Book of Dead’s lowest adds £72.06 to the hour.
  • Cheapest to play: Blood Suckers. Its 98.00% default costs £1.20 an hour at 10p on the same assumed pace, half the cost of a 96% game.
  • Biggest prize within your cap. On a £2 spin, nine of the twenty can pay £10,000 or more; Dead or Alive 2 gets there from 10p.
  • Weigh the offshore trade-off. The ranked casinos are not bound by the £2 and £5 caps, the 2.5-second rule or GamStop, and their 35x to 40x wagering is well above the 10x that licensed sites may ask.

The twenty, by type:

  • Fishing: Big Bass Bonanza, Big Bass Splash, Fishin’ Frenzy and Fishin’ Frenzy The Big Catch Gold Spins.
  • Egyptian and book: Book of Dead and Eye of Horus.
  • Multiplier grids: Gates of Olympus, Sweet Bonanza 1000 and Sugar Rush.
  • Megaways: Bonanza and Extra Chilli.
  • Classics with low or mid volatility: Starburst, Blood Suckers, Gonzo’s Quest and the 2025 Light & Wonder version of Rainbow Riches.
  • High-volatility payline games: Dead or Alive 2 and Wanted Dead or a Wild.
  • Jackpots: Divine Fortune.
  • 2026 releases: Epic Ze Zeus and Max Win Machine.

A type is more useful than a rank because it predicts two things a rank hides: how a game tends to pay, and which British rules bite hardest on it. Three of the four games with five published RTP settings are fishing or Egyptian games, and the widest gap of all, Book of Dead’s, sits in the Egyptian group. Six of the seven largest published top prizes belong to Megaways, high-volatility and 2026 games, so the stake caps matter most there. The classics carry the lowest published volatility ratings, and Blood Suckers’ 98.00% default is the highest in the catalogue.

No game is here because it is “popular”. Providers do not publish play counts, and the only operator statement available, Entain’s about the Big Bass series, is quoted with its source in the fishing section. Which casino runs which game, and at which setting, changes over time, so the lobby and the information screen of the game in front of you are the only reliable record. If you want ten of these games put in order on a stated numeric score, the top 10 best online slots list does that. This page is for knowing what kind of game you are opening and what it will cost.

One rule runs through every type at a licensed casino: a player in Great Britain cannot buy a bonus round there. Some of these games offer that option elsewhere, and Pragmatic Play’s press releases mention it “in select markets”; at licensed sites British players have to reach the feature by spinning, while offshore sites, the ranked ones included, are not bound by the Commission’s warning.

Play this if: one pick from the twenty for each kind of player

A catalogue shows what exists; at the lobby you need a choice. Each row matches one aim to the game among the twenty that serves it best on published figures, with its average cost for an hour at 10p and an assumed 600 spins, and the catch that comes with it.

Where you play is the other half of the choice. The ranking under the heading compares four offshore-licensed casinos and their welcome packages, and game libraries vary from one casino to another, so confirm the title is in the lobby before you deposit. Once the game is open, its information screen tells you the setting you are on: every hourly figure in this table assumes the published default.

How we picked the twenty and sorted them by type

Every game had to clear one bar: a default RTP published by its provider. After that, four rules shaped the list.

  1. Every type is represented. Eight types, from the 10-line fishing game to the 5 out of 5 volatility release, so that the catalogue covers the kinds of slot a British player is likely to open.
  2. Partial figures are allowed and labelled. Seven of the twenty publish no maximum win and seven publish no volatility rating. Leaving them out would have removed Starburst, Blood Suckers and Gates of Olympus, so they stay in, and every gap is marked “not published”.
  3. Variants count as separate games. Big Bass Bonanza and Big Bass Splash are different games with different top prizes; Fishin’ Frenzy and The Big Catch Gold Spins are different games with different RTP settings. The fishing type holds two of each family because that is where the figures differ most.
  4. Figures come from the providers only. RTPs, versions, volatility ratings, top prizes and layouts are the ones in the providers’ pages and press releases, as recorded in this site’s fact sheet for October 2026.

How much the providers disclose varies a great deal, and the gaps are part of what a player needs to know:

All four of the above5 of 20Only Big Bass Bonanza, Book of Dead, Wanted Dead or a Wild, Epic Ze Zeus and Max Win Machine publish everything

Two providers stand out. Hacksaw Gaming publishes all four figures for each of its three games here. Blueprint Gaming publishes long version ladders for its three but no volatility rating for any of them, and a maximum for only one. Between those two habits sits most of the catalogue: a single RTP, a volatility rating in words, and sometimes a maximum.

The top 20 slots by type: twenty games in eight groups

Each type below has a table of the published figures, a short note on the games, and a paragraph on what the type means for someone playing in Great Britain. “Not published” means the provider’s source does not give the figure; it never means the figure is zero. Dates are the providers’ announcement months or years.

Fishing slots: Big Bass and Fishin’ Frenzy

Two families make up this type: Pragmatic Play’s Big Bass series and Blueprint Gaming’s Fishin’ Frenzy. In Big Bass Bonanza, money symbols carry cash values and every fourth wild collected in the free spins brings a retrigger and a multiplier; Blueprint’s games are 10-line designs whose RTP settings vary more than their layouts.

Big Bass Splash carries the only popularity claim in this catalogue with a named source: Entain said it was its top-performing online slot in the UK in 2025, and that all the Big Bass titles consistently rank in its top 20 games for Ladbrokes and Coral. Its 5,000x top prize is more than twice the original’s. The Big Catch Gold Spins is the opposite story: a UK-only release with a lower default than the game it is named after, 95% against 96.12%.

For a UK player. Here the version question takes two forms. Blueprint lists five settings of Fishin’ Frenzy, from 96.12% down to 90%, and the UK-only release starts at 95%, the lowest default anywhere in the twenty, with three settings below it. The Big Bass pair publish their figures more tightly: Big Bass Bonanza’s lowest version sits 2.11 points under its default, the narrowest published gap in the catalogue. On the stake caps, the two families split. Big Bass Bonanza’s 2,100x is worth £4,200 on a £2 spin, so an 18 to 24 year old cannot win £10,000 from one spin on it, while Big Bass Splash’s 5,000x reaches exactly £10,000. The rest of the series, from the 1000 versions to the 2026 release, is laid out on the Big Bass slots page.

Egyptian and book slots: Book of Dead and Eye of Horus

Two games with an ancient Egyptian theme, one from Play’n GO and one from Blueprint Gaming. Both publish five RTP settings, the longest ladders in the catalogue alongside Fishin’ Frenzy and Rainbow Riches.

GameProvider and dateDefault RTP (other published versions)VolatilityTop prizeLayout and features
Book of DeadPlay’n GO, January 201696.21% (94.25%, 91.25%, 87.25%, about 84.2%)High5,000xNot covered by the figures used here
Eye of HorusBlueprint Gaming, date not published96.31% (94%, 93%, 92.04%, 90.25%)Not publishedNot published10 lines

Book of Dead’s lowest setting, about 84.2%, is the lowest RTP published for any game in the catalogue, twelve points below its own default. Eye of Horus starts higher, at 96.31%, and stops higher, at 90.25%.

For a UK player. Five settings each means the same title can cost very different amounts from one casino to the next. At £1 a spin and an assumed 600 spins an hour, Eye of Horus costs £22.14 an hour on average at its default and £58.50 at 90.25%; Book of Dead costs £22.74 and £94.80. The information screen is the only place to tell which one you have, and for this type it is worth opening every time. How each Book of Dead setting changes a package of promotional spins is worked through on the Book of Dead free spins page.

Multiplier grids: pay-anywhere, cluster and tumble games

These games drop the payline. Gates of Olympus pays for eight or more matching symbols anywhere on a six-by-five grid, removes winning symbols so others tumble in, and attaches multipliers; Sugar Rush pays for clusters on a seven-by-seven grid. All three here are Pragmatic Play games.

GameProvider and dateDefault RTP (other published versions)VolatilityTop prizeLayout and features
Gates of OlympusPragmatic Play, reported at launch in February 202196.50% (none published)Described as highly volatileNot publishedSix by five, pays anywhere for 8+ matching symbols, tumbles, multipliers of 2x to 500x, 15 free spins for 4+ scatters

Sugar RushPragmatic Play, June 202296.50% (none published)Not publishedNot publishedSeven by seven, cluster pays, position multipliers doubling up to 128x

The defaults sit within 0.03 points of each other, so on cost the three are interchangeable: £2.08 to £2.10 an hour at 10p and an assumed 600 spins. What separates them is the reach of the multipliers, from Sugar Rush’s 128x positions to Sweet Bonanza 1000’s 1,000x bombs.

For a UK player. Two rules matter here. Pragmatic’s press releases mention bonus-buy options “in select markets”, and the Commission’s warning of January 2020 keeps them away from British players, so the free spins in these games have to be triggered by play. And because only one RTP is published for each, the information screen is a check against the published default rather than against a known ladder. Later versions push the multipliers further: Gates of Olympus 1000 to 1,000x and Gates of Olympus 2500, released in September 2026, to 2,500x. The Pragmatic slots guide compares each original with its higher-ceiling versions.

Megaways slots: Bonanza and Extra Chilli

Both games here come from Big Time Gaming and use the Megaways layout: six reels plus an extra horizontal reel, for up to 117,649 ways to win.

GameProvider and dateDefault RTP (other published versions)VolatilityTop prizeLayout and features

Extra ChilliBig Time Gaming, 201896.19% (none published)Very high16,877xThe same layout, up to 117,649 ways

The layout also appears in other series. Pragmatic’s Big Bass Bonanza Megaways (November 2021) runs at 96.70%, is described as high volatility and has money symbols worth up to 4,000x, and Big Bass Hold & Spinner Megaways offers up to 147,456 ways; Pragmatic called the latter “the landmark tenth release” of the Big Bass franchise.

For a UK player. Megaways pair high volatility with large ceilings, so this is a type where the caps decide the prize. On a £2 spin Bonanza’s top prize is £52,000 and Extra Chilli’s £33,754; on a £5 spin, £130,000 and £84,385. The cost of play is ordinary: £2.40 and £2.29 an hour at 10p and an assumed 600 spins. Neither game publishes a second RTP.

Low and mid-volatility classics

Three NetEnt games from 2011 to 2013 and the 2025 Light & Wonder version of a long-running title. Where their volatility is published it is low or mid, and where their layout is published it is a five-by-three payline grid.

Blood Suckers’ 98.00% is the highest default in the catalogue and the cheapest game here to play: £1.20 an hour at 10p and an assumed 600 spins, half what a 96% game costs. Rainbow Riches is listed as the 2025 Light & Wonder version; the original game is older, and its figures are not covered here.

For a UK player. Lower volatility changes how a session feels more than what it costs. This site’s model slots show the difference. Starting with £10 at 10p, the low-volatility Model D was still in play after 500 spins in 78.8% of 40,000 simulated sessions, and ahead in 33.2%; the high-volatility Model B, built to Book of Dead’s published figures, was still in play in 23.2% and ahead in 16.7%. Those are models, not these games, but they show what a “low” rating buys: a balance that lasts longer, with fewer large wins. The caps cut the other way here. The published top prizes are small, so a £2 spin cannot reach £10,000 on either game that publishes one: Gonzo’s Quest’s 2,500x is £5,000 at £2, and Rainbow Riches’ 520x stays at £2,600 even at the £5 cap.

High-volatility payline games: Dead or Alive 2 and Wanted Dead or a Wild

Two games at the steep end of the volatility scale, both on paylines rather than ways or grids.

Wanted Dead or a WildHacksaw Gaming, date not published96.38% (94.55%, 92.33%, 88.42%)4 out of 512,500xFive by five, 15 paylines

Dead or Alive 2 has the highest default after Blood Suckers and the largest published maximum in the catalogue. Wanted Dead or a Wild publishes everything, including a lowest setting of 88.42%.

For a UK player. The 100,000x maximum is the only top prize here that reaches £10,000 from a 10p stake, and at the £2 cap it is £200,000. For Wanted Dead or a Wild the version is the bigger lever: its 88.42% setting adds £4.78 an hour to the average cost at 10p and £47.76 at £1, at an assumed 600 spins an hour.

A progressive jackpot grows until someone wins it, so no fixed multiple of the stake describes the top prize. That is why the maximum is marked as progressive rather than missing.

For a UK player. The British stake caps cover online slots defined as reel-based games played online, so they apply to a jackpot slot like this one in full; they do not apply to roulette or blackjack. The published RTP, 96.59%, is the figure that sets the average cost, £2.05 an hour at 10p and an assumed 600 spins. Pragmatic’s Gates of Olympus POP, released in August 2026, takes a different approach: a three-by-five grid at 96.54% whose jackpot prizes are stated as multiples, up to 25,000x.

Both games launched with the same default and three published settings, Hacksaw’s top volatility rating and five-figure ceilings. Other 2026 releases publish less. Pragmatic’s Eastern Fury, Harvest Moon: Grave Profits, Gates of Olympus POP, Helios: Triple Sun, Big Bass Vegas 1000 and Gates of Olympus 2500 each publish a single RTP between 96.46% and 96.54%. Play’n GO’s July to September releases, among them Reactoonz Blitzways, Moon Princess Extreme, Viking Runecraft 1000 and Infernal Trinity, which introduced a new mechanic of Play’n GO’s own, come with no figures in the release list, so none can be catalogued here.

For a UK player. In this catalogue the 2026 releases bring both UK levers at once, a ladder of versions and a five-figure ceiling: Epic Ze Zeus’s lowest setting adds £2.32 an hour at 10p and an assumed 600 spins, and its 50,000x top prize is £100,000 at the £2 cap. Neither game had a track record when this catalogue was compiled. What came out over the summer and autumn, with the figures each provider published, is collected on the new online slots page.

What a cheaper RTP setting costs you per hour

A provider can supply one game at several RTP settings, and the casino picks one. From the lobby you cannot tell which; only the game’s information screen shows it. For the player that makes the version a lottery in all but name: the casino knows the number, you find out when you look. The first table prices it for the nine games in the catalogue whose providers publish lower versions, at 10p and at £1 a spin and an assumed 600 spins an hour, one every six seconds, well below the fastest pace the 2.5-second rule allows. Average cost per hour is stake × 600 × (100% − RTP).

What the two tables mean for your choice

The version outweighs the game. Eighteen of the twenty defaults fall between 95.97% and 96.80%. At 10p and the assumed 600 spins an hour that is a band from £1.92 to £2.42 an hour, 50p wide. Every one of the nine published version gaps costs more than that: the narrowest, Big Bass Bonanza’s, adds £1.27 an hour, and Book of Dead’s adds £7.21, more than fourteen times the width of the band. Choosing between most of these games changes your hourly cost by pennies; the setting a casino has installed can change it by pounds.

In this top 20 slots UK catalogue, Book of Dead's lowest published RTP version adds £7.21 to an hour at 10p and an assumed 600 spins, and Big Bass Bonanza's £1.27, against a 50p spread across 18 of the 20 defaults.
Even the narrowest published version gap costs more per hour than the whole spread between most of the twenty defaults, so the installed setting outweighs the choice of title.

The extremes are far apart. The cheapest default in the catalogue, Blood Suckers at 98.00%, costs £1.20 an hour at 10p. The dearest published setting, Book of Dead at about 84.2%, costs £9.48, nearly eight times as much for the same number of spins at the same stake. At £1 a spin the gap between them is £82.80 an hour.

The UK-only release starts low. Blueprint’s The Big Catch Gold Spins, listed as a release for the UK only, defaults to 95%, which at 10p costs £3.00 an hour, against £2.33 for the default setting of the Fishin’ Frenzy it is named after. Its lowest setting, 90%, is the same as the original’s.

A single published RTP proves nothing about other settings. For eleven games the source lists one figure. That means no lower version is published, not that none exists, so the information-screen check applies to all twenty. Stake raises every figure in proportion: at £2, the cap for 18 to 24 year olds, each pound in the £1 columns doubles, and at £5 it multiplies by five.

Which games can pay £10,000 at your stake cap

The British caps limit the stake, not the prize, but a slot’s top prize is a multiple of the stake, so the cap sets the largest prize you can play for. Take £10,000 as a yardstick. On a £2 spin, the most anyone aged 18 to 24 may stake on an online slot, a game needs a published maximum of at least 5,000x to reach it. On a £5 spin, the cap from age 25, it needs 2,000x. The last column gives the smallest whole-penny stake at which the published top prize reaches £10,000.

Top 20 slots UK stake-cap view: Dead or Alive 2's top prize reaches £10,000 on a 10p spin and Book of Dead's at £2.00, while Big Bass Bonanza needs £4.77 and Rainbow Riches £19.24, almost four times the £5 cap.
Nine of the thirteen games with a fixed published maximum can pay £10,000 on a spin an 18 to 24 year old may place, three more need a stake only over-25s may use, and one is out of reach at any legal stake.

Nine of the twenty publish a maximum of 5,000x or more, so on those a £2 spin can reach £10,000; on Big Bass Splash and Book of Dead it reaches exactly that. At £5 the threshold drops to 2,000x and twelve of the thirteen published maximums clear it. The exception is Rainbow Riches: its 520x top prize is £2,600 on a £5 spin, and a £10,000 prize would need a stake of £19.24, almost four times the cap.

For an 18 to 24 year old, then, the game decides whether a five-figure prize is on the table at all. On four of the thirteen it is not: £4,200 on Big Bass Bonanza, £5,000 on Gonzo’s Quest and on The Big Catch Gold Spins, £1,040 on Rainbow Riches. On the Megaways, high-volatility and 2026 games it is, several times over. At 10p only Dead or Alive 2 reaches £10,000.

Three cautions keep the table honest. None of the providers publishes how often its top prize lands, and on high-volatility games it may be very rare, so the table describes ceilings, not expectations. The prizes are the providers’ multiples, before any limit a casino’s own terms may set. And the caps work only in one direction: they stop you staking more, but a bonus round triggered by a £2 spin still pays at the full multiple of £2.

How UK rules protect you, type by type

Every game in the catalogue is subject to the same British rules at a casino licensed by the Gambling Commission. They do not land evenly, though, and the table shows where each one makes the most difference.

Around the games sit three more rules. Since 31 October 2025 every new customer must be prompted to set a deposit limit before the first deposit. Since 19 January 2026 bonus wagering at licensed casinos is capped at 10 times the bonus, and promotions that require two kinds of gambling, the Commission’s own example being betting and slots, are banned. A spin offer on any of these games now has to stand on its own.

Price an hour on any of the twenty before you play

The calculator opens on Book of Dead’s default setting at £1 a spin, with an assumed 600 spins an hour and one hour of play. Replace the RTP with the figure in the information screen of the game you are about to play, and set your own stake, pace and time. It returns the spins played, the total staked, the average cost overall and per hour, the average kept per spin and the average amount returned.

To see the RTP lottery in one move, change 96.21 to 84.2, Book of Dead’s lowest published setting: the average cost of the hour rises from £22.74 to £94.80. For a sense of the other end, enter 98 for Blood Suckers, which brings it down to £12.00. The results are averages; on the high-volatility types an hour can end far from them in either direction.

Playing the twenty at UK-licensed brands: what to know

Players who want a Gambling Commission licence behind their games, rather than the offshore terms of the casinos in our ranking, can use this section to read the licensed brands. The twenty games are made by seven providers and licensed to many casinos, and each casino installs its own choice of RTP setting. No brand below is said to run any particular game or version; the only operator statement about a game in this catalogue, Entain’s about the Big Bass series, is quoted in the fishing section. What the brands’ public facts do tell a slot player is how their offers are built, how their groups share accounts, and how easy they are to hold to account.

Groups where one welcome covers several brands

Entain runs Ladbrokes, Coral, Gala Casino, Gala Bingo, Foxy Bingo and PartyCasino, along with bwin, Sportingbet and Party Poker, with several brands behind one account structure; one welcome offer per group is the norm, so a spin offer claimed at one Entain brand can rule out the others. In the LeoVegas group, owned by MGM Resorts, BetMGM’s UK site has run on the LeoVegas licence and platform since its 2023 launch, and Bet UK sits alongside. Kindred, now part of FDJ United, pairs the casino-first 32Red with Unibet, a sportsbook with a casino attached.

Brands associated with spin offers

Sky Vegas is the casino-first brand at Flutter and the one in that group most associated with no-deposit spins. 888 Casino, online since 1997, advertised no-deposit spins for a decade and is now part of evoke, formerly 888, alongside 777 Casino, 888sport and William Hill. When a spin offer names one of the twenty games, the terms around it can matter more than the game: PlayOJO, run by SkillOnNet, and MrQ, run by Lindar Media, are built on a promise of no wagering on any bonus, so spin winnings there are cash, usually from smaller spin counts. Jumpman Gaming’s Amazon Slots, Dream Jackpot and Prime Casino offer a turn on a prize wheel with a first deposit, which makes the headline number the wheel’s best segment, not its usual one.

Bingo-led and casual-games brands

Virgin Games, Jackpotjoy, Monopoly Casino and Double Bubble Bingo are Bally’s brands on one Gamesys platform designed around bingo and casual games; welcomes there typically take a “deposit £10, play with more” form, with frequent small promotions for existing players. Heart Bingo belongs to bet365, and Gala Bingo and Foxy Bingo to Entain. Promotions that require two kinds of gambling have been banned since 19 January 2026, and the Commission’s own example is betting combined with slots, so if an offer from a bingo-led brand mentions a slot, check that it does not also make you play bingo to collect it.

Sportsbook-led brands

bet365, privately owned and based in Stoke-on-Trent, is a sportsbook first and a casino second, and its casino welcomes are deposit-based as a rule. Flutter’s Paddy Power, Betfair and Sky Bet usually tie casino welcomes to a first deposit or stake; Betway runs sport and casino under one brand with deposit-based offers. Since January 2026 none of them may make slot spins depend on a sports bet.

Checking a brand before you play

Betfred, Grosvenor Casinos (Rank), Genting Casino and Admiral Casino (Novomatic) have premises on British high streets, which makes them the simplest brands to verify and the least likely to disappear. For any licensed brand, including names such as Slingo, Pink Casino, Magic Red and Dream Vegas, the licence holder and Commission account number appear in the site footer and can be checked on the public register. Enforcement is published against the licence holder rather than the brand: among the groups named here the largest Commission fines or settlements run from bet365’s £582,120 (2024) up to Entain’s £17m (2022) and William Hill’s £19.2m (2023). Every licensed brand must verify age and identity before play, belong to GamStop, refuse credit cards and keep bonus wagering to 10 times or less; cryptocurrency is missing from their cashiers too, as a matter of practice rather than an outright ban.

Offshore casinos, ours included: what changes for these twenty games

What follows covers our ranked casinos as much as any other offshore site, since none of the four holds a British licence. Sites without a Gambling Commission licence publish their own lists of top slots, often with many of the titles in this catalogue, and point British players to them through “not on GamStop” pages. Santeda International B.V. runs five such brands from one Curaçao licence: Mystake, Goldenbet, Rolletto, Donbet and Velobet. They are absent from the UK register, outside GamStop and open to cryptocurrency, with no cap on wagering and no route for a complaint to the Commission. Kinghills and NineWin are recent launches from Curaçao-registered companies that run families of sister sites, with no public track record. Rainbet operates on an Anjouan (Comoros) licence through RBGAMING N.V. and is built around crypto deposits such as Bitcoin, which none of the licensed brands above offers. Roobet and Gamdom started in the gaming-skins market and became Curaçao crypto casinos. None of them is licensed for Great Britain.

Same title, different rules. Every rule in the type-by-type table above is an obligation on British licensees, and a site outside that system does not have to apply any of it. For the high-ceiling types nothing holds the stake at £2 or £5; for Pragmatic’s multiplier grids and fishing games the bonus-buy restriction falls away; for every type the 2.5-second minimum, the ban on autoplay and turbo, and the on-screen net position stop being requirements. The RTP lottery loses its referee as well: no UK body checks the setting shown on an offshore screen or hears a complaint about it.

Around the games, a British player gives up GamStop, the 10x wagering cap, the eight-week complaints deadline with its route to independent ADR, and the bank-card protection that a crypto deposit lacks. Taking bets from people in Great Britain without a licence is an offence for the operator; the player is not prosecuted but has no UK protection left. The homepage section on fake and offshore offers lists the warning signs.

Check the setting in two minutes: reading a game’s information screen

Open the game’s information or rules screen before the first spin and read it in this order:

  1. Match the exact title. Variants are separate games with their own figures. Big Bass Bonanza defaults to 96.71%, Big Bass Bonanza 1000 to 96.51% and Big Bass Bonanza Megaways to 96.70%; Gates of Olympus and its 1000 version both default to 96.50%, its POP version to 96.54% and its 2500 version to 96.51%; Fishin’ Frenzy defaults to 96.12% and The Big Catch Gold Spins to 95%.
  2. Find the RTP line. Compare it with the catalogue tables above. On a game with a published ladder, any figure below the default is one of the cheaper settings; on a game with one published RTP, a lower figure means a setting the provider does not list publicly.
  3. Find the maximum win and multiply it by your stake. It is stated as a multiple. At your stake, that multiple is the largest prize the game can pay before any limit in the casino’s terms.
  4. Read the volatility statement, if there is one. Hacksaw rates on a five-point scale, NetEnt and Big Time Gaming use words, and Blueprint publishes none for its three games here.
  5. Look for what should not be there. On a British site there should be no autoplay, no turbo or quick-spin button, no slam stop and no option to buy the bonus round. Any of them suggests the site is not working to UK rules.
  6. Check the session display. Your net position and the time played should be visible while you play.
  7. Price the hour and set the stake. Use the RTP you found in the calculator above, and keep the stake inside your cap: £2 a spin from 18 to 24, £5 from 25.

Warning signs in slot lists and game screens

  • An RTP with no version. “Book of Dead, 96.21%” is the default; a list that does not mention settings down to about 84.2% is telling half the story.
  • “Most popular” with no source. Providers do not publish play counts. A popularity claim should name who measured it, as Entain did for the Big Bass series.
  • Prizes in pounds with no stake. “Win £500,000” on Dead or Alive 2 assumes a £5 spin, the most anyone may stake on a British slot; at 10p the same top prize is £10,000.
  • Autoplay, turbo or a buy-feature button on a site that says it serves Britain. All three are absent from UK-licensed slots.
  • A list that pitches “not on GamStop” or crypto as a selling point. Sites outside GamStop hold no British licence, whatever games they list. The casinos in our own ranking are offshore as well: their cards state the licence, and the protections described on this page do not come with them.
  • Spins that depend on a sports bet. Promotions requiring two kinds of gambling have been banned at licensed sites since 19 January 2026.

Other slot guides to read next

The catalogue is a map. The fishing, multiplier-grid and 2026 sections above link to the guides that go deeper into the Big Bass series, Pragmatic Play’s catalogue and the latest releases. These pages look at the same games through other lenses:

One difference with the scored list is worth spelling out. That page needs a published maximum win for every game it ranks, so Starburst, Blood Suckers and Gates of Olympus could not be scored there; here they appear with their gaps marked. A game can be worth knowing about without being rankable on published figures.

Staying in control across twenty very different games

Moving between types changes the ride more than most players expect. In this site’s simulations, £10 played at 10p lasted a median of 1,029 spins on the low-volatility Model D and 247 on the high-volatility Model B, built to Book of Dead’s published figures; at the 2.5-second minimum, 247 spins take little more than ten minutes. Long sessions are where costs build up: in January to March 2026 the Gambling Commission counted 8.9 million online slots sessions that lasted more than an hour, about 4.4% of all sessions, down from 5.9% a year earlier. At £1 a spin and an assumed 600 spins an hour, an hour on Book of Dead’s lowest setting costs £94.80 on average.

  • Set your deposit limit at the first prompt, which every licensed site must show new customers before their first deposit.
  • Keep the stake below the cap, not at it. The caps are legal maximums: £2 a spin from 18 to 24, £5 from 25.
  • Use the clock on screen. Licensed slots show the time played; a time-out locks the account for a period you choose.
  • Check the version before each new game, since the same title can cost several times as much per hour on a low setting.

GamStop, which every online operator has had to join since 31 March 2020, blocks all UK-licensed gambling sites with a single registration. It has no reach into the offshore casinos in our ranking, so if you have signed up to it, those casinos are not for you either. The National Gambling Helpline is free on 0808 8020 133.

How we worked out the numbers

Game figures come from providers’ game pages and press releases, as recorded in this site’s fact sheet for October 2026, with Book of Dead and Big Bass Bonanza taken from the figures used across the site. A figure the source does not give is marked “not published” and never estimated, and release dates are the providers’ announcement months or years. The twenty were chosen to cover eight types, each with at least a published default RTP; no game was chosen for popularity.

Hourly costs use stake × spins × (100% − RTP). The pace of 600 spins an hour is an assumption, slower than the 1,440 spins an hour the 2.5-second rule allows. Top prizes are the published maximum multiplied by the stake, and the stake needed for £10,000 is rounded up to the next whole penny. The model-slot figures in the classics and safety sections come from this site’s bankroll simulations: £10 at 10p played until the balance could not cover a spin or 1,440 spins had passed, 40,000 sessions per model, on Model D (low volatility, 96%) and Model B (built to match Book of Dead’s published RTP, high volatility and 5,000x maximum). Model slots illustrate volatility; they are not the games, whose pay tables are not public. Session statistics are the Gambling Commission’s for January to March 2026. The ranking block near the top of the page orders casino offers by its own separate method and has no bearing on the catalogue.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I play the top 20 slots in the UK?

Our casino ranking, at the top of this page, lists four sites whose deposit welcome packages need at least £20 or €20, come with 35x to 40x wagering and pay out 150 to 500 free spins in stages. Every one of the four holds an offshore licence, which means neither the British slot rules nor GamStop protects you there. Libraries differ from casino to casino, so check that the game is in the lobby before depositing, and look at the RTP shown on its information screen before your first spin.

What are the top 20 slots in the UK?

As selected on this page, by type: Big Bass Bonanza, Big Bass Splash, Fishin’ Frenzy and The Big Catch Gold Spins (fishing); Book of Dead and Eye of Horus (Egyptian); Gates of Olympus, Sweet Bonanza 1000 and Sugar Rush (multiplier grids); Bonanza and Extra Chilli (Megaways); Starburst, Blood Suckers, Gonzo’s Quest and Rainbow Riches (classics); Dead or Alive 2 and Wanted Dead or a Wild (high volatility); Divine Fortune (jackpot); Epic Ze Zeus and Max Win Machine (2026 releases).

Why are these 20 slots grouped by type rather than ranked?

Because a game’s type predicts how it pays and which UK rules matter most for it, while the largest differences in cost come from the RTP setting a casino installs rather than from the choice of game. A ranked list of ten, scored on published figures, is on the top 10 page.

Which of the 20 slots has the highest RTP?

Blood Suckers, at 98.00% by default, which at 10p a spin and an assumed 600 spins an hour costs £1.20 an hour on average. The lowest default is The Big Catch Gold Spins at 95%, and the lowest published setting of any game is Book of Dead’s, at about 84.2%.

Which of the 20 slots have lower RTP versions?

Nine publish them: Big Bass Bonanza, Fishin’ Frenzy, The Big Catch Gold Spins, Book of Dead, Eye of Horus, Rainbow Riches, Wanted Dead or a Wild, Epic Ze Zeus and Max Win Machine. The other eleven list one RTP, which does not rule out lower settings, so check the information screen on every game.

How much more does a lower RTP version cost per hour?

At an assumed 600 spins an hour, between £1.27 (Big Bass Bonanza) and £7.21 (Book of Dead) more at 10p a spin, and between £12.66 and £72.06 more at £1. Even the smallest of those gaps is wider than the 50p-an-hour spread between the defaults of eighteen of the twenty games.

Can an 18 to 24 year old win £10,000 on one spin in the UK?

Only on a game whose published maximum is at least 5,000x, because their stake is capped at £2. Nine of the twenty publish such a figure. Big Bass Bonanza (£4,200 at £2), Gonzo’s Quest and The Big Catch Gold Spins (£5,000 each) and Rainbow Riches (£1,040) fall short.

What is a Megaways slot?

A layout of six reels plus an extra horizontal reel that gives up to 117,649 ways to win, used by Big Time Gaming’s Bonanza and Extra Chilli. Both are rated high or very high volatility, with top prizes of 26,000x and 16,877x the stake.

Is Fishin’ Frenzy The Big Catch Gold Spins a UK-only slot?

Blueprint Gaming lists it as a UK-only release, on a page dated January 2026. It defaults to 95%, with settings at 93%, 92% and 90%, and its top prize is 2,500x the stake.

Which 2026 releases are in the catalogue?

Hacksaw Gaming’s Epic Ze Zeus and Max Win Machine, both released in August 2026 at 96.22% with two lower settings and a 5 out of 5 volatility rating. Pragmatic’s 2026 releases publish single RTPs, and Play’n GO’s July to September releases came with no published figures.
