Casino Welcome Bonus UK: The Best Welcome Offers Compared on Wagering, Deposit and Spins (October 2026)

  • 18+

The ranking below sets casino welcome bonus packages side by side, each one a deposit offer from an offshore-licensed casino with its licence, minimum deposit, wagering and free spins printed on the card. In October 2026 every package in it needs at least £20 or €20, carries 35x to 40x wagering and releases 150 to 500 free spins over several deposits, so the small print, not the headline, is what separates them. At those multiples the clause that mattered most in the site’s model-slot simulations was the order of play: with the deposit played before the bonus, about one session in four ended above the deposit, against 9% to 14% when deposit and bonus were locked together.

    Terms, licence and verdict

Player-friendly terms by offshore standards: 35x rather than the usual 40x, a €5 maximum bet, two weeks to clear, and free-spin winnings paid as cash. The arithmetic is still against the player: a €20 first deposit earns a €30 bonus that needs €1,050 of slot play, an expected cost of about €42 on a 96% game, so the match is worth less than nothing on average and the free spins are the only part with positive value. Licensed in Anjouan (ALSI-202601040-FI2), operated under the names BetPortal Gaming Ltd and Excite Ultra Media Ltd; not on the Gambling Commission register and not connected to GamStop.

A five-deposit package whose headline, €5,000, is reached only by depositing €1,000 five times. At the €20 minimum the first stage is a €20 bonus that needs €800 of play at 40x, an expected cost of about €32, so the match has negative value on average; the spins are capped at €100 of winnings per batch and expire within a day. Launched in 2025 under a Curaçao licence; not on the Gambling Commission register and not connected to GamStop. Launched in 2026 and operated by PrimeTier Limited of Costa Rica, a brand with no track record yet. The package has the same shape as WinBeast: five deposits, 40x wagering, and at the £20 minimum a first-stage bonus that needs £800 of play. The 5x conversion cap limits what any stage can pay out. Not on the Gambling Commission register and not connected to GamStop; the lootbox and tournament promotions sit outside the welcome terms entirely.

    Terms, licence and verdict

A generous-looking first-deposit match with the least documented terms. A £20 deposit at 200% is a £40 bonus that needs £1,600 of play at 40x, an expected cost of about £64, so the headline generosity is the most expensive to clear. The maximum win, expiry and maximum bet are not published where a player can read them before depositing, and the Curaçao licence number could not be matched to a regulator entry. Key numbers for choosing a welcome bonus. A 100% match on £20 at the 10x cap is worth £12.00 if the wagering is completed on a 96% slot. In simulated £20-deposit sessions on a model slot, 37.0% to 42.6% finished 10x wagering whatever the match from 100% to 400%, and 14.1% to 15.1% finished 35x. At 35x the share ending above the £20 deposit stayed between 13.8% and 14.5% for every match size, level with the 13.6% who ended above £20 without any bonus. Where the deposit was played first (a non-sticky bonus), about one session in four ended above the deposit at offshore wagering, against 9% to 14% for the sticky version.

A welcome bonus is the offer a casino leads with, and its headline, whether a percentage, a spin count or a “play with” balance, says little about what you can eventually withdraw. The cards in the ranking print the lines that do: the licence, the minimum deposit, the wagering multiple and the way the spins are released. This hub shows which of those lines to read first and which kind of bonus suits which player, then backs that advice with one valuation formula and with simulated sessions of matches from 100% to 400%, including what changes when the deposit is played before the bonus. If a “£100 free” headline brought you here, the homepage explains what that offer usually involves; the guides listed further down take each welcome type in detail.

Quick answer: how to choose a casino welcome bonus

  • Compare the ranking’s cards on three lines. The minimum deposit, the wagering multiple and the spin schedule set what a package costs to clear. Every package in the ranking starts at £20 or €20 and asks for 35x to 40x, so the differences sit in the detail: which deposits carry the spins, and whether the multiple is charged on the bonus alone or on deposit and bonus together.
  • Value the bonus, never the balance. Your deposit was yours before you claimed anything. On a 96% slot a £20 bonus keeps £12.00 at the UK’s 10x cap, while the full play-through prices the same bonus at −£8.00 at 35x and −£12.00 at 40x.
  • At 35x or 40x, look for a non-sticky offer. When the deposit was played first and the bonus came into play only after the deposit had gone, about one simulated session in four ended above the deposit, against 9% to 14% with deposit and bonus locked together.
  • Read the maximum bet, the game weighting and the deadline before paying. Breaking the bet limit can void the bonus, a game weighted at 10% turns a £200 play-through into £2,000 of stakes, and 35x on a £20 bonus is at least 4 h 52 min of spinning at 10p.
  • Know the catch. The casinos in the ranking are licensed offshore, so a deposit there comes without GamStop, the 10x cap or a UK complaints route. A UK-licensed welcome is usually smaller, typically 100% of a modest first deposit, but its wagering can never exceed 10 times the bonus.

At a casino licensed by the Gambling Commission, a welcome bonus nearly always asks for a deposit. The standard form is a match of the first deposit, usually 100% of a modest sum and occasionally 200%, sometimes with free spins on a named slot added. Other licensed sites give spins for a deposit with nothing to play through, return part of early losses as cashback, or spread smaller matches across the first two or three deposits. Since 19 January 2026 none of these may carry wagering above 10 times the bonus, and none may require you to take part in a second kind of gambling, such as a sports bet, to unlock a casino offer.

Headlines compress all of this into one figure, and each figure has a usual meaning. “Up to £100” is a ceiling, not an amount: the bonus follows your deposit until it reaches that figure. “Play with £40” counts your own deposit inside the balance. “200 free spins” is often a total credited in batches over several days or deposits, and “£30 free” is usually a deposit offer described as free money, which the page on £30 free no deposit headlines takes apart. Expect a limit of one welcome per person and household, and frequently one per group of brands as well.

The casinos in the ranking hold licences from Anjouan, Curaçao or Costa Rica, and every offer in it is a deposit package. The wider offshore market advertises to the same searches with headline numbers of the same kind and larger: 300% and 400% matches, packages summed across several deposits, crypto bonuses and no-deposit “free chips”, with wagering that commonly runs from 30x to 60x and free chips that usually cap withdrawals at £100 or less. Whatever the number, an offshore offer comes without GamStop, without the 10x cap and without any UK body to hear a complaint.

For a slot player who was going to deposit anyway, a match pays when its wagering is low: in the model-slot simulation a 10x match on a £20 deposit more than doubled the chance of ending above the deposit compared with playing the same money with no bonus (32.2% against 13.6%). At the 35x to 40x the ranking’s packages carry, the structure of the bonus counts for more than its size, which is why the comparison below lists it straight after the multiple. No welcome offer is a reason to deposit money you had not planned to spend.

What to compare on each welcome package

At a glance the ranking’s packages look alike: a £20 or €20 deposit to start, 35x to 40x wagering and spins in the hundreds. What separates them sits in the lines below, which differ from card to card. Check each package on your shortlist against them, in this order, before any money goes in.

CheckWhere to find itWhy it matters for a welcome package
Wagering multiple, and what it is charged onThe offer card, then the bonus terms35x on a £20 bonus is £700 of stakes, priced at −£8.00 on a 96% slot; charged on deposit plus bonus, it doubles to £1,400
Sticky or non-stickyThe bonus terms, where they say which balance is played firstWhen the deposit could be withdrawn before the bonus was touched, about one simulated session in four ended ahead at offshore multiples, against 9% to 14% when it was locked in
Minimum deposit at each stageThe offer card and the package termsEach stage needs its own qualifying deposit, and a stage you never fund adds nothing: the two-deposit example further down is worth £20.88 on paper, or £14.88 without the second
Which deposits carry the spins, and what each spin is worthThe free-spin termsThe ranking spreads 150 to 500 spins over several deposits, so spins tied to a later deposit are worth nothing to a player who stops after the first; 50 spins at 10p average £4.80 in winnings, or £2.88 after 10x on those winnings
Largest bet with bonus fundsThe bonus termsGoing over it can cost the bonus and its winnings, and the stake you pick sets the clock: £700 of wagering takes at least 4 h 52 min at 10p and 29 min at £1
Game weightingThe bonus termsSlots usually count 100%; at 10% a £200 play-through becomes £2,000 of stakes
Caps on winnings and deadlinesThe bonus termsAt 35x and 40x the simulated finishers held about £198 to £412 on average, exactly the balances a cap trims; bonus funds usually last from a few days to 30 days, spins from 24 hours to 7 days
Licence and complaints routeThe licence line on the card and the site footerA Gambling Commission licence brings GamStop, the 10x cap and a UK complaints route; the offshore licences in the ranking bring none of them

Even two packages that tie on every line can differ in what you would collect. Count only the stages and spin batches tied to deposits you already mean to make, and compare those totals.

Which welcome bonus suits which player

No welcome offer is best for everyone, because each form trades something different: size against wagering, cash against bonus funds, one deposit against several. Start from how you actually play and let the deciding number pick the offer.

Stakes matter as much as the offer. A player who enjoys long sessions at small stakes gets the most from a match, because a balance that covers more spins survives more losing runs: in the simulations the £20 deposits finished 10x in 37.0% to 42.6% of sessions at 20p, against 28.5% to 33.1% for £10 deposits at the same stake. A player who cares more about keeping the deposit than about a rare large balance should treat the order of play as the deciding clause, since a non-sticky bonus leaves your own money withdrawable until it is lost. And for anyone depositing to win back a loss, or who has chosen to self-exclude, the right tool is a deposit limit, a time-out or GamStop, not a welcome offer.

Match, spins, package or cashback: what each welcome form pays

Welcome offers are built from a handful of parts. Identify the parts, value each one, and the headline stops mattering. The table values a typical example of each form on a 96% slot, first with the formula (what is left once any wagering has been staked in full) and then, where the site ran it, with the simulated outcome on Model A, a medium-volatility model slot.

Prize wheel on a first depositOne spin of a wheel of prizesThe typical prize, not the headlineNot simulated

The deposit match is the standard welcome form and the simplest to value: only the bonus counts, never the deposit, and the 100% deposit bonus page works it through at £10, £20 and £50. A match plus spins is two offers in one, each with its own terms; add their values rather than reading the combined headline. With 10x on both parts, the £20 match is worth £12.00 and 50 spins at 10p are worth £4.80 in average winnings before wagering and £2.88 after it, which is how a package page such as the slots sign up bonus guide arrives at £14.88.

Spins with no wagering are the simplest case: what the spins win is withdrawable, so the formula and the cash give the same figure. The usual cost is size, since brands built on no wagering, such as PlayOJO and MrQ, tend to give smaller spin counts, and the result is lumpy. On Model A, 50 spins at 10p averaged £4.78 but the median was £3.10, and only 5.9% of sessions reached £10. The page on 50 no-wager free spins covers that shape in detail.

Packages are where headlines inflate most easily. A package sold as “150%”, made of 100% on the first deposit and 50% on the second, gives £30 of bonus on two £20 deposits: 75% of the £40 paid in, not 150% of anything. At 10x the £30 is worth £18.00 if both play-throughs are completed, and each part usually has its own deadline, so a stage you never reach adds nothing.

Cashback returns a share of net losses over a set period. Paid as cash it carries no wagering and is worth exactly what it returns; paid as bonus funds, it falls under the same 10x cap as any other bonus, so £2.00 of cashback becomes £1.20 on paper. Either way it only pays when you have lost, which makes it a discount on losing rather than a prize. A prize wheel on a first deposit is the opposite case: the banner advertises the wheel’s biggest prize, while the value lies in the prizes most spins land on.

The UK rules that protect a welcome offer

A welcome offer at a UK-licensed casino operates inside rules set by the Gambling Commission. These are the ones that change what the offer can be and how you claim it:

RuleIn force sinceWhat it does to a welcome offer
Wagering capped at 10 times the bonus19 January 2026A £20 bonus needs at most £200 of stakes; a £40 bonus at most £400.
No promotion may require two or more types of gambling19 January 2026A casino welcome cannot hinge on a sports bet, and a sportsbook offer cannot require slot play; the Commission’s own example is betting and slots.
Slot stakes limited to £5 a spin from age 259 April 2025Applies throughout a play-through, whatever the bonus terms allow.
Slot stakes limited to £2 a spin at ages 18 to 2421 May 2025The same principle, set lower for younger adults.
Deposit-limit prompt for every new customer31 October 2025You choose a limit before the qualifying deposit goes in.
Slot design rules: no autoplay, 2.5 seconds minimum a spin31 October 2021Every play-through has a minimum duration; £200 at 10p a spin takes at least 1 h 23 min.
No gambling on credit cards14 April 2020“Add a card” welcome offers mean a debit card.
GamStop compulsory for online operators31 March 2020Self-exclusion through GamStop shuts every UK-licensed online casino, welcome offers included.
Age and identity verified before any play7 May 2019No bonus play, spins included, until the checks are complete.

Two of these rules do most of the work when you compare offers. The 10x cap keeps a licensed bonus on the right side of the break-even line explained below, and the ban on mixed-product promotions means a casino welcome stands on its own terms. UK-licensed casinos also do not offer cryptocurrency, so in practice a welcome offer paid in crypto is not a UK-licensed one. Nothing in the rules bans crypto outright: Commission guidance, last updated in 2021, says an operator wanting to accept it must satisfy the regulator on money-laundering controls and social responsibility, and when the Commission began looking for a way forward in 2026, it called the move a tentative first step and set no timetable.

How to value any welcome bonus with one formula

One formula values any bonus that carries wagering. B is the bonus itself, W the wagering multiple (how many times over the bonus must be staked before it turns into cash), and RTP the game’s return to player, the share of all money staked that it pays back over the long run:

E = B × (1 − W × (1 − RTP))

E is what the bonus leaves you once every pound of the play-through has been staked. Leave your deposit out of B: you had that money before the offer, and counting it would double the apparent value of every 100% match. On a 96% slot each pound staked costs 4p on average, so a £20 bonus at 10x needs £200 of stakes, costs £8 to clear and is worth £12.00. The same arithmetic across common deposits, at the UK cap and at the 35x and 40x seen offshore:

Deposit and matchBonus (B)At 10x (UK cap)At 35x (offshore)At 40x (offshore)
£10 at 100%£10.00£6.00−£4.00−£6.00
£20 at 100%£20.00£12.00−£8.00−£12.00
£50 at 100%£50.00£30.00−£20.00−£30.00
£10 at 200%£20.00£12.00−£8.00−£12.00
£20 at 200%£40.00£24.00−£16.00−£24.00
£50 at 200%£100.00£60.00−£40.00−£60.00

The dividing line is 25x. At 4p a pound, staking a bonus 25 times over costs the whole bonus on average, so below 25x an offer keeps part of its value on paper and above it the formula turns negative. At the UK cap every offer keeps 60% of its bonus; at 35x or 40x the bigger the match, the bigger the paper loss. The percentage itself decides nothing: a 200% match on £10 and a 100% match on £20 both carry a £20 bonus worth £12.00 at 10x, as the 200% deposit bonus page shows in detail.

A negative value is not a debt, because no one can lose more than they deposit. It says that a player who staked every pound of the requirement would, on average, end up below the deposit they started with. Real sessions stop when the balance runs out, which is why the simulation in the next section finds positive averages even at 40x, held up by a small share of large wins while most players end with nothing. Use the formula to rank offers against each other; use the simulation to see what one session is likely to look like.

Compare welcome offers by the bonus and its wagering, never by the percentage or by the balance you play with. The deposit inflates the balance but adds nothing to the value.

How often welcome bonuses pay out: 100% to 400% matches simulated

The formula ranks offers but cannot say how a session ends. To see that, the site simulated welcome matches on Model A. It is a model slot rather than a real game: it returns 96% of stakes, sits in the medium-volatility class, pays something on 27.9% of spins, triggers its bonus round roughly every 170 spins and limits its top prize to 2,500 times the stake. Real pay tables are not published, so a model is the honest way to show the shape of the outcomes.

Every bonus row below is 20,000 sessions on a £20 deposit at 20p a spin. Deposit and bonus share one balance (the sticky structure), and play continues until either the requirement is complete or there is not enough left for another 20p spin. Sessions that empty out record £0; sessions that complete keep everything left in the balance. The first row plays the same £20 with no bonus until £200 has been staked, as a baseline, over 40,000 sessions. The last column divides the average cash by the finishing rate to show what the finishers hold.

Casino welcome bonus simulation on a model slot: at 10x, 32.2% to 37.3% of £20-deposit sessions ended above £20 as the match rose from 100% to 400%; at 35x and 40x the share stayed between 12.1% and 14.5%, close to the 13.6% with no bonus.
A bigger match nudges the odds of finishing ahead up a little at the 10x cap, but at offshore multiples it leaves them roughly where they were with no bonus at all; what grows instead is the prize for the few who finish.

In every bonus row the median result is £0: more than half the sessions empty out before the requirement is complete. Read across and down, the table makes three points that no single-offer page can.

At 10x, a bigger match raises the prize more than the odds

At the UK cap, between 37.0% and 42.6% of sessions finished the wagering whatever the match, and the share ending above £20 rose only gently with the match size, from 32.2% at 100% to 37.3% at 400%. The average net result tracked the formula, between £2.08 and £8.48 above it, because sessions that run out stop paying for the rest of the play-through. Licensed matches above 200% are rare, so the 300% and 400% rows at 10x show what the cap would do to such offers rather than what is on sale.

At 35x and 40x, the odds of leaving ahead stop moving

Above the break-even line the two measures part company. The formula value falls in proportion to the bonus, from −£8.00 at 100% to −£32.00 at 400% at 35x. The simulated share ending above £20 barely moves: 14.2%, 13.8%, 13.8% and 14.5% at 35x, and between 12.1% and 13.1% at 40x, roughly the 13.6% who ended ahead with no bonus at all. What a bigger offshore match buys is a bigger prize for the same small group: the finishers’ average climbs from about £198 at 100% to about £402 at 400% at 35x.

Why the averages are positive where the formula is negative

Every row at 35x and 40x pairs a negative formula value with a positive simulated average, and both are correct. The formula charges every player for the whole play-through, £700 to £3,200 in these rows. In the simulation, 85% to 88% of sessions stop early because the balance runs out: those players lose the £20 deposit, but they never stake the rest of the requirement, so they never pay its full cost. The small group that finishes carries the average, with balances several times the size of the starting one. For most players, the offer ends with the deposit gone.

The £10 and £50 deposit runs follow the same pattern. The £10 versions finish less often at 10x (28.5% to 33.1%), because a £10 deposit and its bonus cover half as many 20p spins as the £20 version of the same match, while the £50 versions, played at 50p, finish at much the same rate as the £20 ones (37.5% to 41.9%).

Why a non-sticky offer beats a bigger percentage at high wagering

Once wagering is high, the structure of the bonus matters more than its size. A non-sticky bonus spends your deposit first, as real money you can withdraw, and touches the bonus only after the deposit has gone. The site ran five non-sticky offers with one simple rule: spin the deposit at 20p, cash out the moment it doubles, and turn to the bonus only once the deposit is gone.

400% on £1040x+£21.9110.0%+£18.0625.2%

At offshore multiples roughly a quarter of non-sticky sessions ended above the deposit in every case, 23.8% to 25.2% at 40x and 24.8% at 35x, against 9.2% to 14.2% for the sticky one. The averages moved far less, and in one case the non-sticky average was the higher (300% on £10 at 40x: +£16.03 against +£15.09). At 10x the two structures were close. The difference lies in what is at stake: in a non-sticky bonus the deposit can double and leave before the heavy wagering ever applies, while in a sticky one it is locked inside the play-through. The guide to the 100% match breaks the £20 case down result by result, including how to spot each structure in the terms.

For one player the cluster’s results come down to three statements. At the UK cap, a match of any size gives roughly a 40% chance of finishing and about a one-in-three chance of ending above the deposit, against about one in seven with no bonus. At offshore multiples, the size of the match barely changes those odds; it changes how much the rare winner takes home. Where wagering is high, a deposit you can withdraw before the bonus is touched is worth more to a typical player than a bigger percentage. No cap on winnings was applied in any of these runs; where an offer has one, its real value sits below its row.

Clearing time, caps on winnings, minimum withdrawals and deadlines

Offshore multiples change the character of an offer, and offshore no-deposit “free chips” show the far end of the range. A £50 chip at 40x has a formula value of −£30.00, and in the simulation, played at £1 a spin with a £100 cash-out cap, 4.6% of sessions finished, the median was £0 and the average was £4.45. A £100 chip at 60x has a formula value of −£140.00 and averaged £4.55, again with 4.6% finishing. The average survives only because the few who finish mostly end at or near the cap: £4.45 divided by 0.046 is about £97 per finisher.

How long each play-through takes

Since 31 October 2021 licensed online slots have banned autoplay and set a floor of 2.5 seconds per spin, so every play-through has a minimum duration. The table gives the spins needed and that minimum time for common welcome offers; real sessions run longer.

Offshore multiples turn a welcome offer into a working day: the 400% match at 40x asks for eight times the spinning of a 100% match on £20 at the UK cap.

Stake size changes the time, not the average cost: every pound staked on a 96% slot costs 4p whether it goes in 10p or £1 at a time. It does change the odds of finishing, as the site’s £20 no-deposit runs show: at 10x on Model A, 22.1% of sessions finished at 10p a spin, 12.1% at 50p and 10.0% at £1, because a larger stake empties a balance in fewer losing spins. The legal ceilings, £5 per spin for players aged 25 and over and £2 for those aged 18 to 24, apply throughout, and the bonus terms may set a lower maximum bet of their own.

Caps on winnings

Maximum-win and conversion caps were not part of the deposit-match simulations, so their effect there can only be described. A cap matters most where the average depends on a few large balances, which means the 35x and 40x rows: finishers there held about £198 to £412 on average, and a cap of a few times the bonus would cut straight into those results. At 10x more of the value comes from ordinary finishes, so the same cap takes a smaller share.

Minimum withdrawals

Welcome packages that include spins create small balances. If spin winnings are all that is left in the account, a £10 minimum withdrawal can hold them back: on Model A, 50 spins at 10p reached £10 in 5.9% of sessions with no wagering, and 6.9% of sessions ended with £10 or more in cash after 10x wagering at 10p. Finished deposit matches leave larger balances on average, so the minimum bites less often there.

Expiry

Deadlines for bonus funds usually run from a few days to 30 days, and free spins usually lapse within 24 hours to 7 days. Set the deadline beside the table before depositing: a two-deposit package played at 10p needs at least 2 h 25 min of spinning, and a 400% match at 40x needs more than 11 hours at the same stake.

Welcome bonus calculators: price an offer before you deposit

The two calculators cover the two halves of a typical package. In the match calculator, fill in the deposit, the percentage matched, the multiple, and whether that multiple counts the bonus alone or the deposit as well. In the spins calculator, enter the number of spins, the value of each spin (10p is usual), the wagering on the winnings (0 for none) and any maximum-win cap. Both start from the standard UK example on this page, a 100% match on £20 and 50 spins at 10p, each at 10x, with RTP at 96% unless you change it. Each shows what the offer is worth if the whole requirement is staked, together with the shortest possible clearing time at 10p and at £1 per spin; the simulation above shows how far a single session can stray from that figure.

UK brand groups and the welcome format each one uses

Offers change weekly, so this section describes how each kind of licensed brand builds its welcome rather than any brand’s current deal; the packages we link to are compared in the ranking at the top of the page. The slower-moving pattern tells you which of the forms above you are likely to meet at each group and how to value it.

Sportsbook-led brands: casino welcomes tied to a deposit

bet365, a privately owned firm from Stoke-on-Trent, treats its casino as the second business after sport, and as a rule its casino welcomes are built around a deposit. Flutter’s sportsbook brands, Paddy Power, Betfair and Sky Bet, as a rule link their casino welcomes to a first deposit or a first stake. Betway runs sportsbook and casino under one name with deposit-based welcomes, and Unibet is Kindred’s sportsbook-first brand with a casino attached. Ladbrokes and Coral are Entain’s high-street bookmakers, and William Hill, part of evoke since 2022, sits in the same group as 888sport. Since 19 January 2026 none of them may make a casino welcome depend on a bet, so a casino offer at a betting brand is valued exactly like a casino offer anywhere else.

Casino-first brands

Sky Vegas is Flutter’s casino-first brand and the one in the group most associated with no-deposit spins. 32Red is Kindred’s casino-first brand. 888 Casino, online since 1997, spent a decade advertising no-deposit spins and now sits in evoke beside 777 Casino. LeoVegas, owned by MGM Resorts, is a mobile-first group; BetMGM’s UK site went live in 2023 using LeoVegas’s licence and platform, and Bet UK is a further brand in the group.

Bingo and casual-games brands

Virgin Games, Jackpotjoy, Monopoly Casino, Rainbow Riches Casino and Double Bubble Bingo share one platform under Bally’s (Gamesys). A typical welcome there reads “deposit £10, play with more”, which is a match expressed as a balance, and existing customers get frequent small promotions. Entain’s bingo estate includes Gala Bingo and Foxy Bingo, alongside Gala Casino, and Heart Bingo belongs to the bet365 group. A bingo welcome is valued with the same formula, using the share of ticket money the games pay back in place of a slot’s RTP, which the bingo sign up bonus guide works through at several payback rates.

No-wagering and prize-wheel brands

PlayOJO, run by SkillOnNet, and MrQ, run by Lindar Media, promise that no bonus they give carries wagering, so their offers count at face value in the formula; the price is that spin counts tend to be smaller. Amazon Slots, Dream Jackpot and Prime Casino, all from Jumpman Gaming, offer a prize-wheel spin for a first deposit, and the advertised figure is the wheel’s largest prize rather than what most spins land on.

High-street brands

Betfred, Grosvenor Casinos (Rank), Genting Casino and Admiral Casino (Novomatic) also trade from premises on British high streets, which makes them simple to verify and unlikely to vanish overnight. That counts for something when a welcome offer asks you to leave money in an account for days.

One offer per group, and the enforcement record

Most welcomes are restricted to one per person and household, and many to one per group. Entain is the clearest case: several of its brands share one account structure, so one welcome per group is the norm, and a welcome claimed at one Entain brand can rule out the welcome at another. Enforcement action, meanwhile, is published against the licence holder rather than the brand, so the record below belongs to every brand under each name.

The record says how the Commission has dealt with each group’s past failings; it is worth knowing before you leave a deposit tied up in a play-through, and it applies to every brand under the same licence holder. Licensed names such as Casumo, Midnite and Videoslots display their licence holder and Commission account number at the foot of the site; look the number up on the public register just as you would for a group. All of them check age and identity before play, belong to GamStop, refuse credit cards, keep wagering at or below 10x and, in practice, leave crypto out of the cashier.

300% and 400% packages: what an offshore licence changes

Matches above 200% typically come from casinos holding Curaçao, Anjouan or Costa Rica licences rather than UK ones, and the ranking’s own packages fit that pattern: they include a 200% first-deposit match and a package whose matches add up to 300% across three deposits, all with 35x to 40x wagering. The arithmetic shows why a big match and low wagering rarely meet. At 10x, a 400% match on £10 would give a £40 bonus worth £24.00 on paper, well over twice the deposit. Matches that size turn up where wagering runs at the 30x to 60x common offshore, and there the same £40 has a formula value of −£16.00 at 35x and −£24.00 at 40x.

The simulation adds the human scale. At the ranking’s £20 minimum, a single 300% match would be a £60 bonus, priced at −£24.00 at 35x and −£36.00 at 40x; 14.1% and 12.6% of those sessions finished, and the rest ended with nothing. A 400% match on £10 at 40x was finished in 10.1% of sessions, 89.9% ran out first and 10.0% ended above the deposit; the average net of +£21.91 rests entirely on that tenth. The clause that clearly moved one player’s odds was the order of play: on £10 at 40x, a deposit-first 300% match ended ahead in 24.7% of sessions against 9.2% for the sticky version. The guides to the 300% deposit bonus and the 400% headline carry the full figures for each size, including multi-deposit packages and what a cap on winnings hides.

The offshore brands that market to British players do so without a Commission licence. Santeda International B.V. runs five Curaçao-licensed sites, Mystake, Goldenbet, Rolletto, Donbet and Velobet: none is on the UK register or GamStop, all take cryptocurrency, their wagering has no cap, and a complaint about any of them is outside the Commission’s reach. Kinghills and NineWin come from a network of Curaçao-registered sister sites; both are recent launches with no public track record, promoted to British players on “not on GamStop” pages. Rainbet is a crypto-first casino run by RBGAMING N.V. on an Anjouan licence, and its Bitcoin and other coin deposits are something UK-licensed casinos do not take. Roobet and Gamdom hold Curaçao licences and started in the gaming-skins trade; anyone in Britain who deposits crypto with them does so without a regulator, an ombudsman or any bank protection.

It is the operator that commits an offence by offering gambling in Great Britain without a licence. The player faces no prosecution but loses everything the licence provides: the 10x cap, GamStop, identity checks before play, the prompt to set a deposit limit, the stake limits and a UK complaints route. The homepage explains how to tell an offshore or fake offer from a licensed one, including a register check that takes about a minute.

Reading a welcome package’s terms, clause by clause

What follows is an invented example for this page; it reproduces no casino’s actual terms. It describes a two-deposit package of the kind licensed casinos use, and the right-hand column values each clause for a player who deposits £20 twice.

Illustrative clauseWhat it doesEffect for £20 + £20
“Welcome package: 100% match up to £50 on your first deposit plus 50 free spins on a named slot; 50% match up to £50 on your second deposit.”Three parts across two deposits, each with its own terms.£20 bonus, 50 spins and a £10 bonus: £34.80 of face value, counting the spins at their £4.80 average.
“Minimum deposit £10 for each part. Debit cards only.”Every stage needs its own qualifying deposit.£40 in total to collect everything; paying by credit card has not been allowed since 14 April 2020.
“Free spins are worth 10p each and expire 48 hours after they are credited.”Fixes the spin value and a short deadline.£5 of play, £4.80 average winnings; unplayed spins are lost after two days.
“Bonus funds and free-spin winnings must be wagered 10 times within 14 days.”The UK maximum multiple, with a deadline.£348 of stakes on average; £12.00 + £2.88 + £6.00 = £20.88 if played in full.
“Slots contribute 100%; live casino and table games 10%.”Weighting: only slots clear at face value. The £200 first-deposit play-through becomes £2,000 on a 10% game.
“Largest bet allowed with bonus funds in play: £2.”Caps the pace of clearing. At £2 the £348 is 174 spins, just over 7 minutes at the legal minimum pace.
“Real-money balance is spent before any bonus balance.”A non-sticky structure. Each £20 deposit stays withdrawable until it is lost.
“Bonus winnings convert to cash up to £250.”A conversion cap.Trims the rare large results that hold up the averages; not modelled in the simulations.
“The second-deposit match must be claimed within 7 days of the first deposit.”A deadline on the later stage.Miss it and the package is worth £14.88, not £20.88.
“One welcome package per person, household and group of brands.”The group rule.An account at a sister brand can rule you out before you start.

Valued part by part, the package is worth £20.88 on paper for £40 deposited, about 52p for every pound paid in, against 60p a pound for a single 100% match on £20 at 10x. The second stage pulls the average down because it matches only 50%, and it depends on a second deposit you may not have planned. Read a package as a sequence of separate offers, each with its own deadline, and decide stage by stage whether you would have made that deposit anyway.

How to claim a casino welcome bonus, step by step

  1. Fix the deposit first. Decide what you would pay in without any bonus, then pick the offer that fits that amount. A welcome offer is not a reason to deposit money you had not planned to spend.
  2. Check the licence and the group. Look up the Commission account number from the site footer on the public register, and note which group the brand belongs to; an existing account at a sister brand can rule you out of the welcome. A casino from the ranking shows an offshore licence on its card, and the UK protections in the steps below do not apply there.
  3. Open the account and pass verification. Age and identity checks come before any play, bonus play included, as they have since 7 May 2019.
  4. Answer the deposit-limit prompt. New customers have been asked to set a limit before the first deposit since 31 October 2025. Set it at the spend you planned, not at the size of the largest match on offer.
  5. Select the offer and read each part. A match, its spins and any later stages each carry a minimum deposit, a multiple, a maximum stake and a deadline. If the offer must be chosen at the cashier, choose it before paying.
  6. Pay by debit card. The credit-card ban for gambling dates from 14 April 2020; confirm that your chosen payment method counts for the offer.
  7. Use the part that expires first. Free spins are tied to one named slot at a fixed value and usually expire within 24 hours to 7 days, while bonus funds usually last from a few days to 30 days.
  8. Clear the match on full-weight games within the limits. Slots usually count 100% towards wagering. Keep every stake below the bonus maximum bet and the legal limit for your age.
  9. Withdraw, then treat any later stage as a new decision. A second-deposit match is an offer, not an obligation; take it only if you would have made that deposit anyway.

Red flags to check before you claim a welcome offer

  • A bet on sport to unlock casino money. Licensed casinos have been barred since 19 January 2026 from promotions that need more than one kind of gambling.
  • Wagering above 10 times the bonus, however it is written. A requirement stated as 10x deposit plus bonus is 20x the bonus on a 100% match; offshore offers often go to 35x or 40x.
  • Matches of 300% or more with a crypto cashier. The pairing marks an offshore site; crypto is not a payment option at any UK-licensed casino.
  • “No verification needed” or instant play without ID. A licensed site checks age and identity before any play.
  • Credit card deposits accepted. Banned at licensed sites since 14 April 2020.
  • “Not on GamStop” marketing, or no Commission account number in the footer. Either one means the UK safeguards are missing.
  • Free chips with 40x to 60x wagering and a £100 cash-out cap. In the simulation, between 3.7% and 6.3% of such sessions finished, and the median was £0.
  • A deadline the play-through cannot fit. 35x on a £20 bonus is at least 4 h 52 min of spinning at 10p; a one-day window leaves little realistic chance of finishing.
  • A prize-wheel headline presented as if every player wins it. The figure on the banner is the top prize, not the typical one.

Two rows deserve a second look. The 200 free spins package and the 100% match on £20 have similar paper values (£11.52 and £12.00), but the match finished twice as often in simulation. Its £200 requirement is five times the £40 starting balance, while the spins’ requirement is ten times whatever they win: the deposit adds cushion without adding wagering. The last row shows the reverse trade. A £20 bonus with no deposit puts none of your money at risk, yet it finished only 22.1% of the time at 10p a spin, because its requirement is again ten times the starting balance. Such offers are rare at licensed casinos; the guide to £20 free no deposit headlines explains what they usually turn out to be, and the casino no deposit bonus hub covers the smaller amounts that do exist.

The table prices each offer type; turning it into a choice takes two more steps. Find your own situation among the player profiles near the top of the page, then run the packages you are weighing through the checks in what to compare on each welcome package.

Keeping a welcome bonus inside your budget

A welcome offer is the opening move in a relationship the casino hopes will continue, so treat it as part of a budget you have already set rather than an extension of it. Three habits keep it in proportion. Set the deposit limit at the prompt before you look at what the bonus would add, and never raise it to reach a bigger match. Claim one welcome at a time: opening accounts at several groups to collect offers multiplies the deposits, the play-throughs and the hours. And budget time as well as money, because even a 10x match on £20 is more than an hour of spinning at 10p.

If a welcome offer is the reason you are opening another account, or you are topping up to win back a balance that vanished during wagering, stop there. Every licensed casino offers the same tools: limits on deposits, time-outs that freeze the account for a period you choose, and stake limits set in law at £5 a spin, or £2 between 18 and 24. Registering with GamStop, which every licensed online operator has had to join since 31 March 2020, shuts you out of all of them at once, welcome offers included. The National Gambling Helpline, 0808 8020 133, offers free and confidential support.

How we worked out the numbers

Paper values come from E = B × (1 − W × (1 − RTP)) with RTP set at 96% and the deposit excluded from B; average spin winnings are spins × spin value × RTP, which gives £4.80 for 50 spins at 10p. The play-through is W × B, and clearing times use the legal minimum of 2.5 seconds per spin with no breaks.

The simulated figures all use Model A: 96% RTP, medium volatility, wins on 27.9% of spins, a bonus round roughly every 170 spins and a 2,500x maximum. Each deposit-match row is 20,000 sessions, staked at 20p on £10 and £20 deposits and at 50p on £50. In the sticky version, deposit and bonus are one balance, played until the requirement is met or the next spin is unaffordable. In the non-sticky version the deposit is played alone and cashed out at double, and the bonus is played only after the deposit has gone. The no-bonus baseline stakes the deposit at 20p until ten times its value has been wagered or the money runs out. Free-spin rows use 400,000 sessions; rows with wagering on spin winnings or on no-deposit cash use 100,000; the offshore free chips are staked at £1 with withdrawals capped at £100. A finisher’s average is the row’s average cash divided by its finishing rate.

The method cannot do everything. Model A is an illustration, because real pay tables are not published; stakes never change; weighting and deadlines are left out; and deposit matches carry no maximum-win or conversion cap, which would lower their values. Real players who raise stakes, quit early or chase losses behave differently from the model. Read the numbers as the shape of likely outcomes rather than a promise about any casino; the ranking at the top of the page follows the homepage’s evaluation and ranking method.

Frequently asked questions

Which casino welcome bonus is the best value?

On paper, the one with the lowest wagering on the bonus you will actually collect: at the UK’s 10x cap a bonus keeps 60% of its face value on a 96% slot. The ranking on this page compares deposit packages from offshore-licensed casinos, each needing £20 or €20 and carrying 35x to 40x, so among those the structure and the spin terms decide. A non-sticky offer, with your deposit played first, ended above the deposit in about one simulated session in four, against 9% to 14% for a sticky one.

How much is a casino welcome bonus worth?

On a 96% slot at the 10x cap, a bonus is worth 60% of its face value if all of the wagering is staked, so £12.00 on a £20 bonus. In simulation on a model slot, 42.6% of £20-deposit sessions finished that wagering and 57.4% ran out first, so most players ended with nothing while the average net result was +£14.08.

What is the standard welcome bonus at UK casinos?

A match of the first deposit in bonus funds, usually 100% of a modest amount and sometimes 200%, often with free spins added. Like most welcome offers it is for new customers only and needs that first deposit. Its wagering cannot exceed 10 times the bonus, and matches of 300% and 400% are typically offshore offers.

Can a casino welcome bonus require a bet on sport?

Not at a UK-licensed casino. Since 19 January 2026 the Gambling Commission has banned promotions that require two or more types of gambling, so a casino welcome cannot depend on a sports bet and a sportsbook offer cannot require slot play.

Are 300% and 400% welcome bonuses UK-licensed?

Rarely. Matches above 200% typically come from offshore casinos, where wagering of 30x to 60x is common. At 40x a 400% match on £10 has a formula value of −£24.00, and in simulation on a model slot 10.1% of sessions finished while 10.0% ended above the deposit.

Is a higher match percentage better?

Only at low wagering. At 10x a bigger bonus is worth more on paper, but at 35x the share of £20-deposit sessions simulated on a model slot that ended above the deposit stayed between 13.8% and 14.5% from 100% to 400%; the bigger match only enlarged the rare wins.

How often do players finish the wagering on a welcome bonus?

In the site’s simulations on a model slot at 20p a spin, 37.0% to 42.6% of £20-deposit sessions finished 10x wagering, depending on the match size, and 12.3% to 15.1% finished 35x or 40x. The rest ran out of money first and ended with nothing.

What is a non-sticky welcome bonus?

A bonus where your deposit is played first as real money that you can withdraw, and the bonus comes into play only once the deposit has gone. At offshore wagering levels in simulation on a model slot, about one non-sticky session in four ended above the deposit, against 9% to 14% for the sticky version.

Can I claim a welcome bonus at more than one casino?

Usually once per person and household at each casino, and often once per group of brands, so an account at a sister brand can rule you out. Each licensed casino will also ask you to set a deposit limit before your first deposit.

Do I need to verify my identity before using a welcome bonus?

Yes. Since 7 May 2019 UK-licensed casinos have had to verify age and identity before any gambling, including play with bonus funds or free spins. A site that lets you play first and check later is not following UK rules.
